  Training

    Global growth
    Negotiation skills

The training methodology that provides a framework for the workshops set up at Holy Wood is importantly centered on the person: our focus here is on developing the individual and relational complexity of the person by effect of an ongoing learning process. "Knowing how to be": Our awareness of our selves in relation to others is the foundation on which to build both the theoretical and the practical components of knowledge: "knowing that" something is the case, on the one hand, and "knowing how" to do something (mastering skills) on the other.
The courses are aimed at developing relational skills (or "people skills") and helping you rediscover and build on your individual qualities and resources, so the method used is an active method, in that it makes the most of expressivity, role playing, and group work; by contrast, the lectures are chiefly aimed at theoretically systematizing (making theoretical sense of) what has been experienced. Because the courses are taught "on campus," you find the well-rounded learning and exchange environment that this kind of training offers and requires.

 GLOBAL - GROWTH   WORKSHOP

Global Growth training is based on the psychological aspects of human communication as researched by the Palo Alto School (whose chief exponents are Gregory Bateson and Paul Watzlawick) and by Abraham Maslow, who founded the Movement for the Development of Human Potential.

This training method relies importantly on play and self-expression as means with which to help personality come through and make way for possible change, by reshaping attitudes and behavior patterns and integrating them into the person: so the training engages individuals actively and focuses on their creative and constructive potential.

By communicating through body language and collectively experiencing feelings and creativity, we are brought to have a new awareness of ourselves: we ease out of our rigidity and communicative blocks, gain in self-confidence and learn to tap our inner resources, and hone our perceptiveness at large; what follows is that the individuals involved find balance and develop their relational skills.

Holy Wood is setting up four Global Growth Workshop days at its Center for Artistic Research. Psychophysical and expressive activities will be undertaken that rely on simple mediums accessible by everyone: the body, music, speech, colors, relaxation. The ease of execution specific to this training method helps you concentrate: it helps you pick up all that emerges from within and make it manifest in your interaction with the group.

The workshop will be conducted by Piera Paparini: a student of Roberto Vaccani, she’s been training people for twenty years, specializing in psychosocial skills.

The Holy Wood estate, steeped in green and in the stillness of Tuscan hills, provides ample indoor and outdoor spaces for the activities staged here. In addition, you are provided with accommodations (room and board) in a friendly and casual atmosphere.

NEGOTIATION - SKILLS   WORKSHOP

We are often led to view negotiation as a tool designed for use by "others," especially the people in the higher echelons of corporations. But that is simply not the case, because whenever two or more persons have to agree on something, either at work or in private, they initiate a negotiation process. So it is useful to know and experience the phases of this process: knowing what’s happening to us when we’re negotiating an activity through which we develop our self-awareness knowing how to handle the conflicts that inevitably arise, and reaching a satisfactory solution, such as enables you to "win" with the others.

This course uses an active training method based on role-playing and games, and centered on the person and on group relations to convey this knowledge and bring out these experiences. A range of negotiation situations will be enacted that make it possible to recognize the variables in play and the negotiation styles acted out, so as to develop the skills necessary for selecting the negotiation strategy most appropriate to the situation in question. The theoretical base comes from Eric Berne’s Transactional Analysis and from the studies on negotiation conducted by Lionel Bellenger and Ferruccio Cavallin.

The workshop will be conducted by Piera Paparini: a student of Roberto Vaccani, she’s been training people for twenty years, specializing in psychosocial skills.

Holy Wood is setting up four Negotiation Skills Workshop days at its Center for Artistic Research, a restructured farmhouse steeped in green and in the stillness of Tuscan hills, and equipped with ample indoor and outdoor spaces for the activities staged here. In addition you are provided with accommodations (room and board) in a friendly and casual atmosphere.
